Our dietitians are certified by the A.D.A. in Adult and Childhood Weight Management. We conduct a detailed diet, weight and health history and develop an individualized meal plan for each client. We investigate your weight history and the reason you have developed a weight problem. Some people struggle with PCOS or insulin resistance, hypothyroidism, medications that cause weight gain, or poor dieting history. We consider your lifestyle, eating habits , metabolism, exercise interest, health concerns, shopping and cooking abilities and work constraints. We address the long term health benefits of our dietary advice. We combine all your medical issues into one personalized eating plan.
Weight Management
A successful client once said, “You know, everyone should come see the dietitian just like going to the dentist for a cleaning every 6 months. Just to check your weight, your eating habits, and refresh your health goals. I was getting off track and needed some direction.”
We coach you through all the phases of weight loss—the fun of getting control of your eating and losing weight, the challenges when you get off track, and the support when you are maintaining your weight. We use motivational interviewing, hunger management, emotional eating control , mindful eating, and behavior modification techniques to help you achieve your weight goals.
Weight Loss Track: First 2 visits 1 hour, 30 min visits every other week , graduate to monthly visits. You will be asked to keep a food record for a while, either handwritten or electronically. We can do a body fat analysis , body measurements, and metabolism testing if requested.
Metabolic Testing
Do you feel like your barely eat, and still gain weight?
No matter what diet you follow, your weight loss is disappointing?
We now can determine the calories that your body burns daily, and then
give you an accurate calorie goal to lose weight. We test your
RMR ( resting metabolic rate) in our office with a BODY GEM device,
at the beginning of your weight loss journey, and also near the end to be
sure you are maintaining a healthy metabolism.

Sharon has experience with bariatric nutrition at a Center for Excellence Bariatric Program. She works with clients preparing for surgery, and the dietary changes after the surgery. If you are working to meet the 6 month nutrition requirement, we can help. If you had surgery years ago and have gained some back, call us!
Exercise
Weight loss is like an airplane with 2 wings—diet and exercise; you need both!
We are trained in Sports Nutrition, and will work with you to move more. Whether you use a pedometer to count steps, or sign up with a personal trainer, we will encourage more calorie burning activity.
Building and maintaining muscle mass is a key to sustainable weight control. We lose muscle as we age, so some strength training, with adequate protein intake, will sustain and build your muscle mass while burning away your fat stores. Added benefit of more muscle to fat body composition is an increased metabolism. So, once you have met your weight loss goals, you can maintain your weight and not gain it back!
